Not a math teacher, but this is neat...

So as you know, I'm not a math teacher...BUT my BFF from college is.  She's working on her master's right now.  She's in her last class and has begun working on her Action Research Paper.  Last night I talked to her and she was sharing with me about what her ARP will cover.  She shared this site that she's started working with and will be using while working on her ARP (and probably longer).  I went on it this morning and did the first lesson in Algebra to see what it was all about, because the reality is that I may *get* to teach math again...

It looks pretty neat.  I thought I would share it, you can see for yourself.  Check it out, let me know your thoughts.  Have you used this?  How have you used it?

  1. Thanks so much for sharing this website! I have used it in the past (while taking a class over the summer) and forgot about it! I am sure my Algebra students would find it useful!

  2. I have used some of the Khan academy videos in my class. The problem is the ones with a black background do not show up well at all on my SMARTBoard. They are an OK resource to point kids to for help, but are just very dry and boring so the kids aren't too impressed with them.

  3. I have 2 kids, ages 10 and 13, that I homeschool and I use Khan Academy all the time to introduce them to a new math lesson. It's been extremely helpful for them.
