100th Day?

I get it,  I teach middle school, we don't do cutsie very often, but I have a you celebrate teh 100th day of school in your middle school classrooms?

I kind of want to.  I like a lot of the neat things that lower elementary teachers do in their classrooms, and I was thinking the other day "why can't I do something fun for the 100th day?"  So I might... I'll let you know.

  1. Hi Mrs. G:

We have done math problems with "hundreds"--including percents, multiply/dividing by 100, etc.
Oh... I think you teach Language Arts? Could you have them do some creative writing about something involving 100? Are there any picture books with 100 in the title (That aren't tied so directly to math) that you could use as style lessons or as a springboard to their own writing?
    Good luck with your investigation!

  3. I love 100th day but only get to celebrate it with my daughter and via my sister and her 1st grade class. So many ideas swim in my head but alas...middle school???

  4. I'm going to keep thinking on this & see if I can come up with anything Middle School-esque...I'll keep you updated. :)

  5. I was just thinking the same thing! I teach in a K-8 span school so my middle school kids feel a little left out when we don't do cutesy type things like the younger grades. I may do a 100th Day Percent activity of some sort, but I haven't decided yet!

  6. I would love some ideas for middle school 100th day. I just told my team that I'm missing all the "cutesie" things I did with my firsties...and would like to do something "cutesie" with my math students.

  7. There is a boy who for his hundredth day wrote a list of 100 things he believed in. It was for the 'This I Believe' This is a link to hear him read 30 of them.

You could use the same kind of idea. Perhaps have the classes you teach add to a list to get up to 100.
